Leeds Bronze Engineering has joined Made in Yorkshire!

We’re pleased to share that Leeds Bronze Engineering is now part of the Made in Yorkshire network. Becoming a member connects us with like-minded manufacturers across the region and underlines our long-standing commitment to UK industry.

Supporting Manufacturers across the UK and beyond

Managing Director, Neil Unitt explains our role in the supply chain:

“As a dedicated stockist of copper based alloys, Leeds Bronze Engineering supports the UK and export engineering markets”, and we have been doing so for over 50 years!”

“With our extensive stock range of aluminium bronze, leaded bronze and phosphor bronze alloys, we are able to support every customer requirement whether it is one off supply or longer term scheduled demand.”

We hold solid and hollow bar, as well as centrifugally cast tube, in a wide spread of sizes.

That stock is backed by a responsive cutting service, as Neil explains:

“Material can be supplied as solid or hollow bar as well as centrifugally cast materials. Customers are able to utilise our cutting service in order to receive material in lengths that match their machining requirements.”

For customers who prefer finished parts, we can supply machined bushes, bearings and other bronze components, keeping quality front and centre:

“If customers require finished machined components, Leeds Bronze Engineering also have the ability to supply to customers across a wide range of sizes and volumes with final quality the focus within our process.”

From aluminium bronze and phosphor bronze through to leaded bronze, we hold one of the widest stock ranges available in the UK - supplying everything from one-off requirements to long-term scheduled demand.

That stock is backed by our responsive cutting service and machining capability. Whether it’s solid or hollow bar, centrifugally cast tube, or finished parts like bushes, bearings and bespoke bronze components, we keep quality front and centre. It’s why our products are trusted in applications as demanding as aerospace actuators, offshore rigs, power-generation turbines, defence platforms and rail rolling stock.

As part of Made in Yorkshire’s Exhibitor Spotlight series, one of the MIY team recently caught up with us to chat about what drives Leeds Bronze, what’s been changing, and what’s next.

1) In one sentence – what does Leeds Bronze do best?

We provide the highest quality product and service levels, delivered by the highest quality team members, ensuring consistency and reliability across a variety of market sectors.

2) What’s the driving mission or purpose behind Leeds Bronze right now?

Our mission is to excel in execution and add value for our customers as the UK’s leading supplier of bronze, other copper-based alloys, and precision machined components.

We’re focused on achieving beneficial growth for both our customers and ourselves by building on our reputation as the largest stockist of copper-based alloys. This means extending our product range, making new investments, and driving continual improvements across the business.

3) What’s been the biggest change or milestone in the past 12 months?

It’s been a big year of change for Leeds Bronze.

First came the huge task of relocating our full business footprint — more than 300 tonnes of material, storage racks, saw equipment, inspection equipment, and of course our brilliant team — to a new site in under three months. The move included everything from new electrics and server systems to offices and infrastructure, and it’s already paying dividends.

The second milestone was our acquisition in May 2025 by Deca Group. Now proudly operating as part of the Group, we’ve seen fresh investment in stock availability, positive changes to our team structure, and new energy in driving business direction forward.

4) Any exciting developments on the horizon?

Plenty! Leeds Bronze will soon be making four major investments to strengthen what we can deliver for customers:

CNC machining to expand our commercial offering and improve lead times on machined components.
A new circular saw to boost efficiencies in warehousing and cut customer response times.
New stock lines and specifications to widen the range of materials we can provide.
A new ERP system to enhance productivity, streamline operations, and most importantly, improve customer communication and service.

5) Something surprising or little-known about us…

Did you know Leeds Bronze supplied machined bushes for the Batmobile in Batman Begins? It’s not every day your components end up helping Gotham City’s Dark Knight save the day!

Increase Stock Levels – Improve Availability - Grow Customer Satisfaction

First deliveries of additional stocks of CC483K, CC493K and CC333G are starting to arrive. More deliveries to follow during August and September.

Leeds Bronze Engineering Ltd have successfully expanded our stock range of these specifications over the last 12 months. The initial investment in 2024 has increased our ability to create greater supply chain value for customers.

However, within these specifications we still have;

✅ more opportunities to improve customer engagement
✅ more opportunity to invest
✅ more room for growth

Across CC493K, CC483K and CC333G we have further invested in increasing minimum stocked volumes of 97 existing lines due to the increased sales we are delivering into customers. In addition, an extra 116 new stock lines are also arriving to complement the existing profile.

This investment goes hand in hand with continued focus on PB1, SAE660, NES833, CA104, CW307G and C63000.

Congratulations to Katy Wright on completing 20 years at Leeds Bronze Engineering.

During Katy's 20 years with the company, she has worked in most roles and proven to be adaptable and conscientious as the business has developed and evolved.

In todays world it's rare to see someone leave school and develop a career at one employer, and its a credit to Katy that she continues to be a vital person that keeps Leeds Bronze Engineering moving.

Well done Katy and we look forward to the next 20!
